Teachers LOVE Summer

http://aclassroomfullofsmiles.blogspot.com/2014/06/teacherslovesummer.html

Today I am linking up with

http://aclassroomfullofsmiles.blogspot.com/2014/06/teacherslovesummer.html

to celebrate summer with my Top 3 Summer Goals!

1. Pack Everything and Move

YES. I said move.

I have been delaying blogging about this, but I guess now is as good a time as ever to announce the bitter/sweet news that I will not be teaching this next year.

For those of you that have followed my blog for awhile, you know that my husband is currently in grad school. Well....he is jumping into this third and FINAL year before he graduates with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy! (Can't wait!)

His last year consists of clinical rotations and we will be moving to Utah the end of next week for him to complete them. He has one in Salt Lake City, Provo and St. George.

Because of all the different locations, I won't be able to teach.

I have absolutely LOVED the school that I've taught at for the last 2 years, and my heart broke when I said good-bye to my cute kinders. I'm so sad to leave all the wonderful people that I've come to know. I am definitely not the same person I was when I first walked through the doors 2 years ago and I will feel forever blessed to have worked there.

2. Be Productive

I always tend to become a little lazy during the summer. Often times I'll look back on the week and wonder "What did I do besides lounge around in my pj's!?"

I want to be productive.

I want to finish up some TpT products I've been working on for awhile, and create others that I have on my To-Do List!

I also want to read. It's been awhile since I've read any books.

I've been wanting to read a series called "The Work and the Glory." It is the story of a fictional family who travels with the Mormon Pioneers across the United States. I've wanted to read it for a long time and just never got around to it.

Do you have any other good book suggestions for me!?
(I'll have a LOT of time over the next year)

3. Run

I HATE running. I've never enjoyed it. But I know how good it is for your body and it's great exercise! My goal is to run a 5K at the end of the summer.

I'm starting to do the "Couch to 5K" program. If you haven't heard of it, you MUST check it out.

It breaks it down week by week and you start out slow. Week one is Walking 1 1/2 minutes, running 1 minute for a total of 20 minutes. (Well, it includes a 5 min warm up walk....so I guess a total of 25 minutes.)

It slowly increases each week, for a total of 9 weeks, but you can repeat any week if you need to. By the end of the 9 weeks you should be able to run a 5K without stopping!! (Something I've never done!)

There is even an app for your phone that costs $1.99

I usually attempt/start this each summer, but once school starts up again I stop doing it. I guess that is one perk I'll have this year! (Now I won't have an excuse to stop! eeek! lol)

  1. Hey there! Thanks for linking up! I'm sorry that you have to leave your current school. It is always hard to change. It will be worth it in the end. I tend to get a little lazy over summer as well. I'm going to try my hardest to NOT let that happen! Happy summer!
